Harriet Inez Taylor, 86, died at Hamilton on Tuesday July 15, 2003. Funeral services were held Friday at the First Baptist Church in Hamilton with Rev. Mathew Gilmore and Rev. Doyle Combs officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mrs. Taylor was born November 13, 1916 in the Ater community of Coryell County, the daughter of Williams Thomas Parson and Martha Ensley Parson. 

She was married to Thomas (Tom) Dalton Taylor on September 29, 1935 at Hamilton. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1975. 

Mrs. Taylor retired from the Hamilton Independent School District with twenty years of service. She was past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star where she was a fifty-year plus member and a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. 

Survivors include three children, Kenneth Taylor and his wife Stella, Martha Massingill and Rita Rogers; seven grandchildren, Bill Taylor, Darla Cole, John Mark Taylor, Tommie Necessary, Scotty Massingill, Crystal Washko and Paula Buster; 15 great-grandchildren Stephanie Taylor, David Taylor, Michael Taylor, Jennifer Cole, Jessica Taylor, Jeremiah Taylor, Jade Taylor, Bryan Necessary, Miranda Necessary, Faith Leah Massingill, Kristen Paige Massingill, Dillan Washko, Cole Wright, Blake Wright and J.C. Buster and by a number of nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Tiffany Cole; four brothers and four sisters. 

Pallbearers were Bill Taylor, Scotty Massingill, Mark Massingill, Keith Necessary, Mike Cole, Bryan Washko, Bryan Necessary, Cole Wright and Blake Wright. Riley Funeral Home


THOMAS, RICHARD EUGENE

Richard Eugene Thomas, 80, died March 7, 2004 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held March 9 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mr. Thomas was born September 21, 1923 in Loraine, the son of Floyd and Bertha Richards Thomas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps. He entered the service on June 27, 1944 and saw action in the Pacific Theater, including the southern Philippines, Luzon, Western Pacific, New Guinea and Air Offensive of Japan. He was awarded the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with seven Bronze Service Stars, American Theater Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Victory Medal, and Philippines Liberation Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. 

On March 28, 1947, Richard was married to Minerva Knudson in Cranfills Gap. Mr. Thomas retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 
1987 after serving the community of Hamilton for 35 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking great pleasure enjoying these activities with his family and friends. 

Survivors include his wife, Minerva Knudson Thomas of Hamilton; his three sons, Dennis Wayne Thomas of Krum, Donald Eugene Thomas of Plano and Darrell Glen Thomas of Sugar Land; two brothers, Stanley Thomas of Pearl and Wendell Thomas of Snyder and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Reid and Hilton Thomas. 

Pallbearers were Bobby Stephen, Bob Cochran, Sonny Thompson, Dennis Krueger, James Thompson and Ralph Lee.

THOMPSON, ALFRED ELIJAH

Alfred Elijah Thompson, 87, died in a Temple hospital April 13, 2004. Funeral services were held Friday, April 16 at 10 a.m. in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Mulloy officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mr. Thompson was born June 25, 1916 in Hamilton County to Sharrod William Thompson and Samantha Davis Thompson. 

On Sept. 3, 1938 he was united in marriage to Lillian Arvilla Bowles in Gorman. They made their home in the Gorman area for a number of years prior to moving to Hamilton in 1964. A.E. was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and great- great- grandfather. He served his country in the Army in World War II. 

Most of his life he was a farmer. He also worked for Miller-Gunn and Ranglers. He was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, of Hamilton; four children, Alfred Ray Thompson and wife Deeta of Hamilton, Wilma Fay Cook and husband Donald of Gorman, Peggy Virginia Moore of Moody and Robert Max Thompson and wife Sharon of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, S.W. (Jud) Thompson of Gorman and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Nora Harvey, nine sisters and six brothers. Pallbearers were Clifton Dennis, Richard Dennis, W.R. McLearn, Larry Dale Thompson, L.V. (Sonny) McLearn and Ricky Miller. 

Honorary pallbearers were Charles Garrett, Dick Keeter, Tommy Lester, Ealon Scott, Keith Curry and Larry Curry.

J. H. Thompson, Jr., 82, of Hamilton, died March 2, 2003. Funeral services were held March 4 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Schibler officiating. Burial was at Oakwood cemetery in Hamilton.


Mr. Thompson was born May 7, 1920, at Hamilton, the son of the late J. H. (Doodle) Thompson, Sr., and Mamie Irene Easterling Thompson.

On August 23, 1941, he was married to Lorene Erna  Kelm. She preceded him in death on May 4, 1986.

He was a veteran of the Army serving in World War II in Europe. J.H. retired after managing H. B. Davis Variety Store and Winn’s Store in Hamilton with more than fifty years of service to these firms. He was a member of the Baptist Church. 

Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Cloie Nail; and one brother, Billy Harold Thompson.

Survivors include five children, Jimmy Don Thompson of Gatesville, Tommy Wayne Thompson of Lake Waco, Pam Jones of Hamilton, Lea Ann Rea of Pottsville and Kellie Puckett of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Betty Ogle of Hallsville; four brothers, Cleo Thompson, Vernon Thompson, Bobby Ray Thompson all of Hamilton, and Hercel Thompson of Georgetown.

Pallbearers were West Jones, Carson Jones, Kyle Don Thompson, Dustin Rea, Buddy Puckett and Darren Tubbs.

THOMPSON, TOM J.

Tom Johnson Thompson 92, died at Ellisville, Mo. March 31, 2003. Funeral services were held at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel at 10 April 5, 2003 with Rev. Wesley Jones officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mr. Thompson was born January 28, 1911, near Dumas to Erle and Alice Yake Thompson. He attended grammar school in Dumas and graduated from Lubbock High School, then attended Texas Tech before going to work for the Texas Oil Company. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II on Guam and other places in the Pacific. After the war, he returned to be foreman at his uncle's ranch near Dumas. 

He was married to Velma Jo Bishop on May 16, 1948 at the First Methodist Church in Lubbock. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1996. 

The couple moved to Hamilton County in 1950. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hamilton and a Mason for more than 50 years. He served on the board of directors of his church and Hamilton's NRECA. He moved to Missouri in the spring of 1997 to be near his daughter's family. 

Survivors include a daughter, Janette Bloomfield and her husband Don; granddaughter, Christine Feller and her husband Scott; grandson, Tom Bloomfield; and one great grandchild Emily Feller, all of Wildwood, Mo. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and two brothers. 

Pallbearers were Tom Bloomfield, Don Bullard, Tommy Hatley, Jerry Thompson, Tommy Duke Thompson, Bobby Stephens, Monroe Reinert and Roy Ellenburg. Riley Funeral Home

Tom J. Thompson 92, died March 31, 2003 in Ellisville, Mo. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. April 5 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with Rev. Wesley Jones officiating.

Mr. Thompson was a longtime rancher and stockman in Hamilton County. He moved to Missouri to be near his daughter Jan Bloomfield, after his wife Velma Jo died.

Thelma Young Virden Townsend died Feb. 8 after a short illness. Graveside funeral services will be held Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

She was born May 2, 1912, the daughter of William David Virden and Mary Blanche Young Virden in Fort Worth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Truman Townsend and a brother and sister.


TURNER, SALLY ANN

Sally Ann Turner, 84, of Hamilton died April 3, 2004. Funeral services were held April 5, at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with Rev. Wesley Jones and Rev. Jim Townsend officiating. Burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mrs. Turner was born June 6, 1919 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Rufe S. Turner and Bessie Hambright Turner. 

After graduating from high school she attended beauty school and worked as a beautician for a number of years. She then went to business school. And was later employed by Stewart Title Company where she held the position of closer for the company. She was dedicated in her work, seeing that all things were done to the utmost degree. 

After retirement she returned to Hamilton to make her home. She was devoted to her family, helping take care of her mother and her sis-ter Stacy for a number of years. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Stacy Turner and Mavis McClanahan and one brother, R.H. Turner. 

Survivors include a niece, Patricia McClanahan of Stephenville, and host of cousins and friends. 

Pallbearers were Jimmy Whitt, Don Conner, Mickey Kinsey, Johnny Clepper, James Craig, Habert Hopper, Seth Craig and Darrell Forrest. 

Honorary Pallbearers were Milton Harelik and Garland Short. Riley Funeral Home
