Vera Lee Webb, 96, died Monday, March 29, at Hamilton General Hospital.

Services were Thursday, April 1, in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Webb was born Oct. 15, 1902, in Malvern, the daughter of Pharis H. and Mary Jane Gossett Hughes. She was married to William Riley Webb on Oct. 22, 1920, in Rayland. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.

She was a longtime resident of Ralls and had lived in Hamilton since 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mabel Mallow and Mildred (Mickey) Hughes, both of Hamilton, and Billie Jean Hopkins of Perryton; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gary Mallow, David Mallow, Eric Roberts, Tony Hopkins, Ralph Kneeland Jr. and David Hale.

Honorary pallbearers were David Page Mallow, Jason Mallow, William Mallow, Brandon Kneeland, Christopher Edwards, Austin Edwards, Riley Parker, Nathan Hale, Nicholas Hale, Nowlan Hale, Zachary Hale and Jim Parker.

WELLS, ELMER FLOYD

Elmer Floyd Wells, 79, died Friday, Nov. 27.

Graveside services were Saturday, Nov. 28, in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with Rev. Wesley Jones officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.

Mr. Wells was born Feb. 10, 1919, in Comanche, Okla., the son of John A. and Elizabeth Holliday Wells. He was married to Katie Gross on Dec. 20, 1952, at Dallas. He had lived in Hamilton for the past 11 years. He was a printer and a member of the Baptist church. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Coast Guard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herman E. Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Wells of Hamilton; two sons, James Martin Wells and John Michael Wells, both of Hamilton; a sister, Estherlee DeHees of Dallas; and two nephews, Glen E. Wells of Kilgore and Herman Wells of Thrall.

 

WHITE, DOROTHA CHRISTINE (DANIEL) (KELLY) (HUFSTUTLER)

Dorotha Christine White, 80, died Nov. 30, 2004 at Ham-ilton. Funeral services were held Dec. 2 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Felton officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. 

Christine was born April 12, 1924 at Lamkin, the daughter of Walter and Etta Hamilton Daniel. She was united in marriage to
Marvin (Huffy) Hufstutler on June 6, 1946. They shared twenty-four years of life together prior to his passing on in December of 1970. In 1972 she married Bobby White. He precedes her in death in 1982. 

Mrs. White was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother, always willing to help her family and anyone in need. After her first husband’s death she went to nursing school and retired from the Hamilton General Hospital after 29 years of service to the community as an O.R. nurse.
 

She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandra Hill; grandson, T. J Browning; sister, Mayme Hamrick and one brother Clarence Daniel. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Darleene Hufstutler of Stephenville and Linda Schultz of Gatesville; five grandchildren, Deidre Johnson, Burke Browning, Shannon Browning, Sherrena Causey, and John Grubbs and six great-grandchildren.

WHITE, NORA ESTELLA "STELLA" (PARKS)

Nora Estella White, 101, of Hamilton died Saturday, Oct. 31(1992) at Hamilton General Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 4 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Jones officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. White was born Jan. 21, 1891 in Clifton to W. M. and Cora Williams Parks. She was the oldest of nine children. She married Houston White Oct. 16, 1910. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.

Survivors include three children, W. M. White of Rushlvania, Ohio, Ray White of Springerville, Arizona and Margaret Tinkle of Hamilton; six grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fieldon Rucker, Bratton Arnett, Dale Chilton, Ed Williams, Charnie Raibourn, and Rabbit Fuqua.

 

WHITEHEAD, MARY ANN (GANDY)

Mary Ann Whitehead, 54, died Nov. 6, after a lengthy illness. Graveside services were held Nov. 8, at the Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Ed Wright officiating. 

Mrs. Whitehead was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Meridian, the daughter of Fan and Cliffie Jorganson Gandy. She was married to Jerry Floyd Whitehead on Oct. 1, 1946. 

She was a cook for the school cafeteria and for the Dinner Bell Restaurant, a homemaker, and a member of the Littleville Baptist Church. Her parents preceded Mrs. Whiehead in death. 

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Floyd Whiehead of Hamilton; a daughter, Sabrina Ann Clark and a son Danny Floyd Whitehead, both of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Christopher Shaw Clark and Bridgette Nicole Clark; a sister, Thelma and her husband Foster Ditmore of Sterling City and a brother Durwood Gandy of Whitney.

WILKINSON, FLOYD L.

Floyd L. Wilkinson, 76 of Proctor died Jan. 16 at Abilene. Graveside funeral services were held Jan. 18 at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

He was born July 9, 1926 at Sudan, Texas, the son of Joseph Gene Wilkinson and Mary Ellen Cummings Wilkinson. He was married to Arlema Ingle going on April 1, 1971. She preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 1978.

He was a retired supervisor from American Linen Co. with forty-two years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Opha Wilkinson and two brothers Lloyd Francis Wilkinson and Wayne Wilkinson.

Survivors include two stepdaughters Bessie Hoilder and Merle Deisher of Comanche; two stepsons Gene Whisenant of Dublin and H.M. Whisenant of Stephenville; five sisters, Genevieve Kerr of Sudan, Mary Jo Attaway of Casper Wyoming, Mable Wages of Earth, Ruby Grace Gipson of Gig Harbor Washington and one brother Jimmy Wilkinson of Proctor.

WILLIAMS, GEORGE McAFEE

George McAfee Williams, 93, died at Hamilton Sunday June 6, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tim Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. 

Mr. Williams was born March 4, 1911 in the Beattie Community of Comanche County, the second child of Logan Riley Williams and Jennie Frances Strickland Williams. He was married to Alta Lucille Fisher on Jan. 4, 1936. To this union three children were born, Gwynda Bullard, Lyndon Williams and Martha Graves. 

He later married Wilma Leone Main on Aug. 21, 1949. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 1999. Mr. Williams was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was a farmer most of his working years, later going into the dairy business, then Pure Milk delivery and still later becoming a retail salesman at Ken’s True Value Hardware. 

He retired in 1988 at the age of 77. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton for 50 years and served as a deacon. He was a long time member of the Hamilton Lions Club. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, stepmother Addie Williams, brother Ardis Williams and son George Lyndon Williams. 

Survivors include his daughters, Gwynda and husband Harry Bullard of Hamilton and Martha and husband Bob Graves of Ft. Worth; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Pallbearers were Mason Bullard, Steve Ortiz, David Quayle, Scott Conrad, Logan, Bullard, Tim Miller, Landon Bullard, Aaron Ortiz and Brennan Quayle.

Funeral services for Mrs. Harriett  Emma Grisham Williams, 79, of Hamilton are scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at the Riley Funeral Chapel with Elder Len Dalton and Rev. Mac Hargrove officiating. 

Mrs. Williams died shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday in a Wichita Falls hospital. 

She is survived by her husband, Sam Williams of Hamilton; three daughters, Mrs. Elmo Newsom of Hamilton; Mrs. Bill Jones of Slaton; and Mrs. George Thompson of Galveston; two sons, J. N. Williams of Stephenville, Floyd Williams of Fort Worth, 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertie Grisham of Hamilton.

Harriett Lou Emma Grisham Williams was a daughter of James Lemuel Grisham, Sr. and Margaret Amanda Jones Grisham. Emma was born 1 July, 1886, at Blue Ridge in Hamilton County, TX, and died 14 December, 1965, Wichita Falls, Wichita County, TX. Emma married Samuel Floyd "Sam" Williams on 16 September, 1906, in Hamilton County, TX.

Samuel Williams Rites Dec. 28 



Services were held Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. in the Riley Funeral Chapel for Samuel F. Williams with Elder Len Dalton officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Williams died in the State Hospital in Wichita Falls Dec. 26, after several years illness. 

Born in Hill County April 3, 1885, he as the son of the late Natt Y. And Mattie Roy Williams. He married Harriett Emma Grisham Sept. 16, 1919, and she preceded him in death. He had lived most of his life in Hamilton County and was a member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. 

Mr. Williams was survived by two daughters, Mrs. Elmo Newsom of Hamilton and Mrs. Bill Jones of Slayton; one son, Floyd Williams of Fort Worth; one sister, Mrs. A. H. Kelly of Hamilton; one brother, W, C. Williams of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Two children, J. N. Williams and Mrs. George Thompson, preceded him in death. 

Pallbearers were Charles and Bill Newsom, James and Coy Williams, Jim Jones, and Nolon Carter.

"In the passing of Mr. Sam F. Williams, Blue Ridge Church lost their oldest living member. 

He joined the church August 3, 1906 and attended all services until his health failed. 

All of his family were members of the church. He served as a deacon since 1940. He was a trustee of the school. 

Our sympathy is extended to his children, grandchildren, and other relatives.

WILLIAMS, THOMAS ALTON

Thomas Alton Williams, 85 of Hamilton died Aug. 6, 2000 in the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel and burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mr. Williams was born May 12, 1915 in the Pleasant Valley Community of Hamilton County, the son of Millard and Cora Rhodes Williams. 

He was married to Willow Dean Harris on Dec. 13, 1936 at Hamilton. He was a rancher and weigher, weighing livestock for a number of commission companies in Central Texas for many years. 

His parents, four sisters and two brothers precede Mr. Williams in death. 

Survivors include his wife, Willow Dean Harris Williams of Hamilton; three children, Burt Williams of Spearman, Glenda Williams Lang of DeSoto, Brent Williams of Decatur; six grandchildren, Lynette Babcock, Kevin Williams, Amber Lang, Braxton Lang, Jessica Williams, Brennan Williams and a great-grandchild, Katilyn Babcock. 

Pallbearers were Brennan Williams, Braxton Lang, Kevin Williams, Jerry Williams, Obey James Harris, Ronnie Harris and O.B. Harris.

WILLIAMS, WILMA LEONE (MAIN)

Wilma Leone Main Williams, 89, died Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Services were Thursday, Feb. 25, in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Graham and Rev. Kevin McDonald officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born April 17, 1909, in Stephenville, the daughter of Fred D. and Cassie Sanders Main. The family moved to Hamilton in 1912.

She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1925. She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton and studied a summer at Baylor University in Waco. She taught in Hamilton County Schools for five years and also worked at Floyd Campbell Insurance Agency. She was married to George M. Williams on Aug. 21, 1949.

They lived in Carlton until 1954, when they moved to Hamilton. They operated Williams Florist for a number of years in the 1960s. She worked as secretary of First Baptist Church in Hamilton until her retirement in 1971. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and senior citizens activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Genevive Clark, a brother, Ray Main, a stepson, Lyndon Williams, and a great-nephew, Jason Clark.

Survivors include her husband, George M. Williams of Hamilton; two stepdaughters, Gwynda Bullard of Hamilton and Martha Graves of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Mason Bullard of Hamilton, Vere Callan of Clifton and Carol Ortiz, Becky Quayle and Larry Graves, all of Fort Worth; 18 great-grandchildren; a niece, Janice Belvin of Clifton; a nephew, Norman Ray Clark of Colorado; and five great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers were Mason Bullard, Raymond Callan, Steve Ortiz, David Quayle, Larry Graves, Troy Belvin and Monty Belvin. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of First Baptist Church.

WITSCHORKE, STEPHEN PAUL 

Stephen Paul Witschorke 40, of Topeka, KN, died Jan. 9, 2005 in Topeka. 

Funeral services were held Jan. 13 at the Eleventh Avenue Church with Rev. R. B. Shiflet and Rev. Jud Lively officiating. Interment was at the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. 

Mr. Witschorke was born May 26, 1964, in Ft. Worth. He lived in Mineral Wells from 1965 until 1984 and graduated from Mineral Wells High School. He was an army veteran of the Persian Gulf War. 

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Kathryn Witschorke of Mineral Wells; son, Stephen Witschorke of Euless; brothers, Scott of Topeka and Mark and wife, Shelly of Mineral Wells; niece, Kathryn Witschorke of Mineral Wells; nephews, Michael Paul Witschorke of Sache, Zakry Witschorke of Mineral Wells, Austin Witschorke of Topeka; aunts and uncles, Betty Rosentreter of Midlothian, Mary and Vernon Beacham of Venus, Doreen and Ansel Holmstrom of Georgetown and Bill Witschorke of Covington; numerous cousins and friends.

WOOD, BILLY GEORGE

Billy G. Wood, 75, died Jan. 29 at Hamilton General Hospital. Funeral services were held Jan. 31 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin McDonald officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Wood was born April 6, 1924 at Moran, the son of Roy and Gracie Bullard Wood. He was married to Martha Frances Williams at Hamilton on January 29, 1943.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving in Europe during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received on March 15, 1945.

Mr. Wood was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First Baptist Church of Hamilton where he was a deacon. He has served as Hamilton County Clerk, County Tax Assessor and Collector, Hamilton City Council member and Mayor Pro Tem.

Three brothers, Thurman Wood, R. G. Wood and Leamon Wood, precede him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Frances Wood of Hamilton; three children, Barry Ray Wood of Rockport, Chris Wood of Plano and Pamela Sue Horner of Waco; five sisters, Equilla Hedgepeth of Fort Worth, Florene Keaton of Purmela, Lurlene Lawver of Dallas, Linda Harris of Fort Worth and Geraldene Huston of Burkburnett; a brother, Quinn Wood of Arlington and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bryan Wood, Josh Wood, Jerod Horner, Glenn Hedgepeth, Gary Wood and Bob Harris.

The family has designated the following for memorials: World War II Memorial Fund or First Baptist Church Youth Fund, 200 S. Bell St., Hamilton.

Martha Frances Williams Wood, 78, died Feb. 18 at Hamilton. Funeral services were Feb. 21 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery. 

She was born July 6, 1926 at Blue Ridge, the daughter of W.C. Williams Sr. and Ethel McClintock Williams. 

She was married to Billy G. Wood on Jan. 29, 1943 at Hamilton. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton where she served as church secretary for many years. She loved and nurtured her children and grandchildren, setting a fine example to live by. 

Survivors include her three children and their spouses, Barry Wood and wife Barbara of Victoria, Chris Wood and wife Debbie of Plano and Pam Horner and husband Bobby of Waco; seven grandchildren, Bryan Wood and wife Leslie, Amy Wood, Jerod Horner, Josh Wood, Megan Horner, Chris Hinkle and wife Tina and Jenny Hinkle; four great-grand-children, Arlie Wood, Heidi Wood, Matthew Hinkle and Taylor Hinkle, a sister, Ethelene French of Hamilton; two brothers, Maurice Williams of Itasca and Weldon (Red) Williams of Hamilton. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Wood and three bothers, W. C. Williams Jr., Lee Williams and Burnell Williams. 

The family has designated CCS Hospice, 118 E. Live Oak, Dublin, TX 76446 for memorials.
