NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH, #1
1878--1891
[I have added #1, #2, #3, etc. as a tool to
differentiate these churches. While they could have been the same church,
the apparent locations make them appear to be different churches.]
The first New Hope Baptist Church
to be part of the Hamilton County Baptist Association was located
north of the village of Hamilton when New Hope was formed
before 1878 by Joseph Alexander Land. It was admitted to the Hamilton County Baptist Association
on 9 September, 1878, and remained active until it consolidated with Grove
Baptist Church in 1891 to become the Leon Baptist
Church,(#2). It
appears that New Hope Baptist Church was in the same community as
was the Manning School and they existed in the same time frame.
