NEW HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH, #3

1908--1911

[I have added #1, #2, #3, etc. as a tool to differentiate these churches. While they could have been the same church, the apparent locations make them appear to be different churches.]

The third New Hope Baptist Church was situated nine miles south Hamilton and east of Shive and US 281. Formed before 1908, this church lasted until after 1911. Rev. R. C. Pender of Bowie preached the ordination sermon for Walter McKenzie in April, 19??.

Dan Wisell gave land (about 1908) for the New Hope Cemetery and New Hope Baptist Church.  Rev. Jess Barett was the last pastor of New Hope Baptist Church.  The church building was sold to Ernest Atchley who moved it and to be used as a residence.   New Hope Church was located on the north side of the current County Road 415, almost a mile east of US281.
