J.
C. Barrow, the subject of this sketch, was born in Macon County,
Alabama, in 1882. He moved with his parents to Texas in 1890, the family
settling on a farm 2 miles north of Hico. He received his education in the
Hico
Public schools, after which he taught school for several years. He
quit his vocation to accept a position with the Smith Harris Lumber
Company of Hico, where he remained until he was elected County
Judge of Hamilton County in 1932.
After moving to Hico Judge Barrow served on the City
Council for five years, after which he was elected Mayor, holding that
office for ten years. While never admitted to the bar, his long service as
a city officer caused him to become thoroughly versed in the law, thus
qualifying him for the office of County Judge.
During the time he has been in office he has served the
people of Hamilton County, impartially and has given the citizens an
economical administration. He is a candidate for re-election and has no
opposition, but nevertheless will appreciate your vote and influence.
