J. D. KOEN

[John D. Koen]

J. D. Koen, senior member of the firm of Koen & Foster, is a Hamilton born and trained man. After graduating from the Hamilton Schools, he attended a school of pharmacy and is now a graduate and registered pharmacist. Mr. Koen is a member of one of our most honored and pioneer families, who settled in the famous Blue Ridge section some fifty years ago.

Before embarking in business for himself, Mr. Koen was employed by the drug firm of J. T. James and later the partnership with his brother and R. D. Foster was formed and their present drug business was acquired. Still later he and Mr. Foster purchased the interest of Dr. Koen.

Mr. Koen is active in civic work and stands for anything that will benefit his home town and county. Being courteous and having a pleasant personality has made him numerous friends throughout the county.

Mr. Koen’s father was A. P. Koen and his mother was Mrs. Annie West Koen, a daughter of Dr. West, one of the first pioneers of the county.

Koen & Foster operate a "Rexall Drug Store," carrying a complete line of famous products. While it is it is owned by them, by being designated as a Rexall store it permits them to handle exclusively in this territory this line and gives them a buying power equal to that of the large chain drug stores.

John Koen and Robert Foster, with their corps of efficient clerks, are always courteous, pleasant, and ready to serve the public. The readers of the News are urged to visit them and inspect their large stock of merchandise.
