PREACHER CEMETERY
An acre of land for the PREACHER CEMETERY was donated about
1890-1895 by Mr. Henry Preacher, Sr. and originally located on his
property ten miles north of Hamilton. Preacher Cemetery is
south of Olin and on the east side of
US 281 on CR 205 in the old Ondee Community near the Gum Branch
School.
When my great, great-grandmother, Virginia Reamy
Fergusson died in January, 1914, ice had to be broken on Gum Branch
Creek so that the funeral cortege could reach Preacher Cemetery
to bury her in an unmarked grave. In 1994 a tombstone in her memory was
placed in the Pottsville Public Cemetery, beside
the grave of her oldest son, William Henry Jarius
Fergusson, my
great-grandfather.
