DEMPSTER, JAS.
1897
[James Terry
"Jim" Dempster]
The Herald of 1897 had the following to say of Jim Dempster, who is now
(1938) county clerk of Hamilton County.
"Dempster is essentially a product of Hamilton County. He has
climbed the hills, scoured the prairies, and ranged the forests of this
section till he has become familiar with all portions of it. He has been
an active stock man ever since he was old enough to ride a mustang still
he can throw a lariat with the best of them. But this is not his principal
calling, as he has been a druggist in the employ of the well known Phoenix
Drug Store ever since it was first established here, and his
accomplishments in the saddle and with the lasso are only side issues of
the main show. Jim is understood to be one of the most reliable
prescription clerks in town."
