GEO. N. GENTRY --1897

George Gentry was a son of Capt. Fred B. Gentry, who was a survivor of the Battle of San Jacinto. They came to Hamilton County in 1856. George, during the war, served as a runner under Col. J. E. McCord and Buck Barry. In 1872 he was elected district and county clerk, and in 1878 was elected sheriff and served three terms.
