Jack H. Moore, local manager for the W. F. & J. F. Barnes Lumber Company is a native Texan, having been born in Coryell County, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Moore. After completing his school work, Jack began his business career in a lumber yard working for his brother in Gatesville. Following this he was employed by the Wm. Cameron Company for a period of eight years. In 1918 he moved to Hamilton and accepted his present employment.

Mr. Moore is a wide-awake and progressive citizen and takes great interest in all things that are for the upbuilding of this community. He is a charter member of the Hamilton Lions Club and served as the president in 1936-37. He was married to Miss Hattie South of Clyde, Texas in 1907. They have two children, Ray Moore of Muleshoe, and Mrs. Orville W. Davis of Hamilton.

John Moore, father of Jack Moore died at his home place this month after reaching the age of 86. He had lived on the same place for 60 years and was the first man to bring barbed wire into the Cove Creek community in Coryell County. Among his possessions was a land grant signed by Sam Houston while governor or Texas.

In 1907 Capt. C. L. Johnson established this yard in Hamilton. After conducting the business for 10 years it was purchased by the present owner, who operates 25 lumber yards and six furniture and hardware stores in Texas. Regardless of the size of the company it maintains the individuality of the town where located and it takes pride in boosting and going its part for the betterment of the city and the community.
