L. S. SECREST
Born and reared in Hamilton, L. S. Secrest, member of
the engineering firm of Secrest & Shingle of Gatesville and Hamilton,
is known as one of the leading men in his profession in this section. He is a registered civil engineer in both Texas and California, and has had
years of experience in both states. At present he is living in Hamilton
and representing the city in the construction of the municipal swimming
pool here for which he is the engineer.
Mr. Secrest is the son of W. M. And Rosa Hurt Secrest,
and was born in Hamilton County in 1894. He grew to young manhood here,
served in France during the World War and has since spent much of his time
in California and other points west. Mr. Secrest is a member of the
Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Shrine. He is also active in the Lions
Club in Gatesville.
In 1894 Mr. Secrest was married to Ruth Clement who
graduated from Waco High School and attended Southern Methodist University
at Dallas. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. . E. Clement, Sr. Her
father is well-known throughout the nation as a prominent grain dealer of
Waco.
He and Ms. Secrest have two children, Ruth Stuart, 3,
and Cynthia Sarah, 1.
Secrest and Shingle now have a branch engineering office
in Hamilton, and are doing good business through It as well as through the
main office in Gatesville.
