Bro. T. D. Talley died in the town of
Hamilton May 11th, 1898, at the age of seventy-six, having been a Baptist
over fifty-two years, a deacon ten years, and a licensed preacher forty
years. Born in Morgan Co., Ga., May 21st, 1822, he became a member of
Weston Baptist Church in Herd Co., Ga., in 1846, was married to Miss
Martha A. Barnes in 1847, and in the next year was ordained a deacon of
Weston church. He removed to Randolph County, Ala., and joined Big Spring
church in which he was licensed to preach in 1858. Coming to Texas in 1870
he joined Knob Creek church in Bell county, and moved to Hamilton County
in 1876; he resided at different points in that county till his death;
during his residence here, being a member in succession of New Hope, Live
Oak, and Pleasant Hill churches. His consistent Christian walk and
exemplary character won for him the respect and kind consideration of all
who knew him. His wife survives him, and she and her children have the
earnest sympathy of our association by whose order this notice is inserted
in these minutes.
