My World Connect website contains over 32,000 relatives.
My mother's family is Norwegian. They came from the len, Norway area and settled in Kendall and Grundy counties, Illinois. My maternal grandmother emigrated in 1904; my mother's paternal grandparents in 1866.
My father's family has been here since colonial times. A couple branches are southern and one is from New England. My father's origins are primarily English, with some Scotch-Irish and Pennsylvania Dutch. The surname Corlew is French Huguenot. My earliest emigrant ancestor is Capt. Thomas Harris, who came to Virginia in 1611. Some surnames in my ancestry are Corlew, Nichols, Elam, Dorrah, Lacefield, Metheny, Dutton, Graves, Shearer, Norment, Harris and Knabb.
