John Butler was born in Barley Hole, near Wentworth, September 13, 1832 and baptized October 7, 1832 in Wentworth Chapelery, Wath upon Dearne Parish, Yorkshire, England. His parents were Matthew and Sarah "Allot" Butler. John was the fifth child of eight to be born. When only eighteen months old, John died on April 24, 1834 and he was buried on April 27, 1834.
