1.  George H. Dix was born in Connecticut about 1816; his parents were also born in Connecticut.


2.  Irving Dix (son of George H. Dix) was born in New York about 1840.


3.  George H. Dix and Alvin Dix filed Land Patents for property in Dodge county, Wisconsin on August 1, 1849.  view images

Note the listing for George Dix, age 68, Shoemaker - he may have been the father of both George H. Dix and Alvin Dix.


4.  In 1860 the George H. Dix family was living in Hebron township, McHenry county, Illinois:

A few households away was Jemima Harrison who was living with her brother Charles:

Irvin Dix and Jemima Harrison were married in McHenry county, Illinois on Dec 27, 1860.


5.  In 1870 the George H. Dix family was living in Meriden township, Steele county, Minnesota.  Their daughter Eliza, who had apparently married William Bradley, was in the adjacent household:

6.  In 1880 George and Susan Dix were living with the William Bradley family in Rosewood township, Chippewa county, Minnesota.

7.  Nathan H. Dix was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1878.  Irvin Dix apparently died there around 1879 as 1880 census data for Valley township, Polk county, Iowa shows Jemima (widowed) and her children:

8.  By 1900 Jemima Dix and her children had moved to Wisconsin.  Census data for Bloomfield township, Walworth county, Wisconsin shows:

Jemima died there shortly after this census was recorded. 

In the 1900 census Anna Sommer was living with her parents in Brighton township, Kenosha county, WI:

On Oct 17, 1900 Nathan Dix married Anna in Wheatland, Wisconsin.  By 1910 they had moved to Salem, WI; their family shows up the 1910 census for Salem township, Kenosha county, Wisconsin:
