The person enumerated as Levi Muhleizen is apparently Johann Gottlieb (aka Lee).
Fred, Sr., now 62, is also living with them.

He subsequently settled in Racine, Wisconsin.
John went west in 1860 returning to Racine in 1861
where he enlisted in the Union army in 1862.
In 1864 he married Christine Cress in Racine.

Mary (Muehleisen) SchneebergerMary married Jacob Schneeberger in Racine. Jacob had enlisted as a private in the Union army on August 18, 1862; he was wounded on June 22, 1864 at Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia. He received a Distinguished Service award and mustered out on June 13 1865. Jacob and Mary were married about 1868; their family appears in the 1870 census for Racine listed as Schemberger: |
| They are still in Racine in 1880 and now have three children. The census record is difficult to decipher and got indexed as Insberger but it is clearly their family; John Muehleisen is living with them. |
| In the 1890 and 1892 directories of Racine, Jacob Schneeberger is listed as a blacksmith located at 1304 Milwaukee Ave. In the 1900 census of Racine they are recorded as Scheburger; thier son Fredrick apparently died before this census was taken. |
| They are listed in the 1910 census as Sneeberger; another of their children had apparently died before this census was taken. |
| Jacob and Mary appear again in Racine in the 1920 census. Their daughter Louisa is living with them; she had apparently married a Mills and is shown as widowed. |
| Jacob died on March 13, 1926; in the 1930 census Mary is still living with her daughter in Racine. |

| Some of the brothers were gold miners; family history says that one of them lost his way in a snowstorm and froze to death in the Black Hills. The photo at right was in a collection of Muehleisen family photos but had no identifying information. It is possible that these are the Muehleisen brothers in their gold-mining days. |

| A Jon C. Muehhessen appears in the 1880 census for Deadwood, Lawrence county, Dakota territory; he is living with the families of J.H. and Martin Gerard who have a barber shop. This is apparently Johan Conrad: |

| I next found him in the 1920 census of El Paso, Texas; he was living as a boarder. |
| George Muehleisen's obituary (Feb 1922) lists a surviving brother Gottlieb who lives in El Paso. Gottlieb appears in the 1930 census for El Paso as Lee Muehleisen now with a wife, Ora L. This was apparently his second marriage as he is shown as being first married at the age of 25; this would have been about 1880. |
