I am a DRUMMOND so my roots begin there. I have traced my DRUMMONDs back to Ireland but here in America, it all started in Pendleton, South Carolina. I have MELTON and CANADY lines also begin there. The DRUMMONDs moved to Alabama around 1825 where they lived for the next 10 to 15 years before finally settling in NW Georgia. Some of the MELTONs had also came to Georgia by 1850. For the most part, the bulk of my father's family comes from NW Georgia; Cass County (renamed Bartow County in 1861), Polk, Floyd and Chattooga counties and more recently Fulton County. In Georgia, my direct DRUMMONDs married a CAMP and a WOODALL, but cousins from the direct line married KINNEYs, WIGGINs, CORDLEs, CORNETs and CHAPMANs. While many of the DRUMMONDs remained in Georgia, in the mid 1920's some, including my direct line, came to Florida. First to Jacksonville but as the family grew it expanded further south to the Orlando area while many remained in Duval County and its surrounding area. In Florida, the ROBERTS, LANIER, JOYNER, BENETT, and HALL lines were added to the family tree.
In my CAMP heritage there are ARNOLDs and GARRETTs who in the 1800's were mostly in Georgia but go back to North and South Carolina in the 1700s.
My direct WOODALL heritage includes the GOSS, STONE, ALLEN, PRUITT and SAMPSON surnames. They too lived in Pendleton, South Carolina in the early 1800's but trace back to the 1670's in Buckingham and Goochland counties in Virginia. They also were possible in Maryland.
My grandfather was William Harrison Bolin of Neeses, South Carolina. He was the son of Thomas Carlisle Bolin and Lucy Katherine Harrison. Lucy's parents were Robert Manly Harrison and Agatha M. Harden. I know very little about Lucy's family except that they were almost all from South Carolina.
Thomas Carlisle Bolin was the son of William Benson Bolin, who was the son of Thomas Jefferson Bolin, Sr., who was the son of William Martin Bolin, who was the son of Edward S. Bolin, Jr., who was the son of the immigrant Edward S. Bolin, Sr. of Ireland. This is the line of my mother about which I know the most. Edward came to America and finally settled in Orangeburg County where many of his descendants still reside to this day. I have over 4,200 of his descendants in my family file.
Edward's wife, Nancy Ann Elizabeth Salley, was the child of a Swiss immigrant, Martin Salley, Sr. Martin's great grandfather was Hans Salley born in Switzerland about 1622. He married the daughter of Jacob Biedermann and Marie Thomann, Anna. This is the earliest family of which I have knowledge to this point. I have nearly 6,000 descendants for them. In my personal file I try to keep it limited to those to which I relate although I do have more. Questions are welcomed and help is appreciated.
I also have quite a bit of info on my Gleaton, Phillips and Fanning roots but I need time to sort it all out. If anyone is researching the Argoes, Corbetts, Caughmans or Coopers I'll have more on them soon.
On my mothers other side of the family my great grandfather was Robert Edward Horne. He was born in South Carolina but most of his children were born in South Georgia. He married Nancy E. Jordan.
