Avoyelles Parish was settled by predominently direct French Immigrants and their descendants.....long before the Acadians came to Louisiana, the ancestors of Avoyelles were settled here. The Avoyelles french settled first in Pt. Coupee and New Orleans, then made their way to Avoyelles by 1780.

The early records of the parishes of West Baton Rouge and Pointe Coupee during the early eighteenth (18) century bear witness to the residence in that part of Louisiana of many of the best known families of the state, names honorably familiar in her annals. Among them we find such names as Le Blanc, Allain, Tounoir
and, related to them by marriage and blood, such equally well known names as Jarreau, Duralde, Lobdell, Dubroca,
Lacour, Morgan and others of equal importance.
Most of these important early families had their start in Louisiana from a celebrated, picturesques, and romantic figure----Louis Paul Balthazar Le Blanc de Villeneuve, a native of France, who became commandant of the Opelousas country, and from another native of far-off France, Francois
Allain of Brittany, who settled in the Pointe Coupee district, became the progenitor of the distinguished Allain branch, and, when a son of Le Blanc de Villeneuve and a daughter of Allain married, the families were united in a tie of blood that survives to this day.
Commandant Louis Paul Balthazar Le Blanc de Villeveuve, progenitor of the Le Blanc family so fequently mentioned in Louisiana genealogical records, came to Louisiana from Villeneuve, in the south of France, holding the rank of officer in the French military service during the first half of the eighteenth (18) century. His wife was Jeanne Avart.

From the marriage records of Etienne Gallot and Valmont LeBlanc, their father was Julien Guillory or Julien Gallot. He was most likely the father of William , Elizabeth and Zeolide as well. In the St. Landry Parish, LA 1860 census record, the children of Charlotte LeBlanc are listed with the surname of Guillory. The children probably should have been listed as Gallot and not Guillory according to the church and census records that I have found. It appears that some of the children of Charlotte LeBlanc and Julien Gallot took the surname of LeBlanc and the others took the surname of Gallot.
