They had the following children:

2. Richard Ashcraft (Richard) was born in 1590 in Little Paxton, Huntingdonshire, England. He died on 4 Jul 1630. Richard married Alice Towers daughter of Thomas Towers and Alice Hawley. Alice was born in 1600 in Hinton Hall, Haddenham, Isle of Ely, England. She died in 1702 in probably in England. Alice is reported to have been the neice of Sir John Jolles, not documented except that he left her £50 in his will. Her own will reportedly was probated January 1703 (in England); John Jr. administered his grandmother's estate [Neal, Ashcraft Family, p. 1-2].

Richard and Alice had the following children:

4 F ii. Dorothy Ashcraft was born on 13 Jan 1613 in St. Mary's, Stockport, Cheshire, England. Dorothy married (1) Agmundesham Muschanp on 21 Dec 1634 in Saint Vedost Church Foster LN, St Michael, London. Dorothy married (2) Joseph Howe on 20 Nov 1651 in St. Margaret Pattens, London, England.

5 M iii. Edward Ashcraft was born on 11 Feb 1615 in St James, London, England.

Richard married (2) Elizabeth Reading daughter of Reverend William Reading on 13 Dec 1668 in Southoe, Hampshire, England. Richard Jr. was four years old when his father died placing his birth about 1624. He married twice first to his first cousin, Mary Towers, daughter of John Towers and secondly to Elizabeth Reading on 13 Dec 1668 in Southoe. She was the daughter of William Reading, Vicar of Southoe, Hants. Richard Jr. was buried 10 March 1670 at Little Paxton. His son, Richard Jr. apparently moved back to Stockport, Cheshire County as an adult as a number of his children were christened there.


Fourth Generation

10. John Ashcraft (John, Richard, Richard) was born in 1644 in Barbados or England. He died on 15 Sep 1680 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. John married Hannah Osborne daughter of John Osborne and Anne Oldage on 12 Sep 1670 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. Hannah was born on 18 Dec 1651 in Windsor, Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. She died in Windsor, Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.

They had the following children:

25 M iv. Jediah Ashcraft was born on 22 Jan 1703 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. On 19 Jan 1734, at Stonington, Connecticut, he had to make bail for an unknown offense. Jediah married Margaret Fanny Avery .

26 F v. Mary Ashcraft was born on 22 Nov 1705 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. Mary married William Willis on 2 Sep 1725 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut.

27 M vi. Uriah Ashcraft was born on 17 Jan 1708 in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. He died in 1791. Twin of Hannah. On 15 Mar 1734, at Stonington, Connecticut, he was tried for his life for the murder of a stranger, Dennis Wilkenson, and was acquitted.

She died in 1790 in West Virginia.

31 M iii. Felix Ashcraft was born in 1726. He died before Nov 1770. Apparently unmarried.

32 M iv. Jacob Ashcraft was born on 18 Feb 1733 probably in Pennsylvania. He died in 1756 in Pennsylvania. He was Killed by Indians. Married Mary Johnson, daughter of Peter Johnson, c1750 (her 1st husband); died c1756 probably in Berkeley County, Virginia [now West Virginia].

33 M v. Jediah Ashcraft was born in 1735 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He died in 1793 in Clifty Hollow, LaRue County, Kentucky. Jediah married Nancy Ann Friend in 1765.

34 M vi. Daniel Ashcraft was born in 1736 in Pennsylvania. He died on 11 Oct 1774 in Battle of Point Pleasant, Virginia. (According to family tradition, he supposedly died 11 Oct 1774 in the Battle of Point Pleasant, Virginia, but there is no evidence whatever to support this....)

35 M vii. Ichabod Ashcraft was born in 1737 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. He died in 1804 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

36 M viii. John Ashcraft was born in 1737/9 in Pennsylvania. He died in 1832 in Shinnston, Harrison County, West Virginia. Married Charity Evans, daughter of John Evans and Sarah Denny, 1763-1764? probably in Chester County, Pennsylvania; died 1832 at Shinntown, Harrison County, Virginia [now West Virginia]. John received Revolutionary War Pension #S-6537.

37 F ix. Elizabeth Ashcraft was born in 1739. Elizabeth married Robert Boyce .

38 F x. Rachel Ashcraft was born in 1741.

39 F xi. Margaret Ashcraft was born in 1743.

Rachel married Blancett Shacklett son of John Shacklett and Barbara Quick on 6 Jun 1807 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Blancett was born on 18 Mar 1787 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He died on 5 Dec 1859 in Meade County, Kentucky. She was described as possessing great force of character and a strong determination [Neal, Ashcraft Family, p. 500, 506].

48 M ix. Absalom Ashcraft was born in 1791 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He died in 1841 in Meade County, Kentucky. Absalom married Delilah Allen daughter of Benjamin Allen, 6 August 1818 Meade County, Kentucky; married 2nd Harriet Wimp after 1819 Meade County, Kentucky; died 1841 Meade County, Kentucky [Neal, Ashcraft Family, p. 506]. He was said to have been like his brother Elijah, quiet and peaceable.


Eighth Generation

40. Elizabeth Ashcraft (Richard, Daniel, John, John, John, Richard, Richard) was born 02 August 1773 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and died 27 March 1839 in Meade County, Kentucky. She married Benjamin Woodbridge Shacklett 09 October 1792 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, son of John Shacklett and Barbara Quick. He was born 21 January 1774 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, and died 24 May 1838 in Meade County, Kentucky.




45.
