2.  ANTHONY² ASHLEY (ANTHONY¹) [NOTES] was born Abt. 1542 in Winbourne St. Giles, Wiltshire, England, and died 13 January 1627/28.  He married (1) PHILIPPA WESTON.    He married (2) JANE OKEOVER Aft. 1587, daughter of PHILIP OKEOVER and MARGARET DETHICK.  She was born in Staffordshire, England.

3.           i.     ANNE³ ASHLEY, d. 20 July 1628.

Generation No. 3

3.  ANNE³ ASHLEY (ANTHONY², ANTHONY¹) died 20 July 1628.  She married JOHN COOPER 01 January 1615/16 in Dorsetshire, England, son of JOHN COOPER and MARGARET SKUTT.  He died 23 March 1630/31.

Ann Ashley, heir to the vast lands of the Ashley family dating back to Henry III (1216-1272), married Sir John Cooper, later Baronet of Rockbourne. The son of Anne Ashley and Sir John Cooper was Anthony Ashley Cooper, usually known as "Lord Ashley, the first Earl of Shaftesbury."
