James served in the Continental Line during the Rev. War, having been a private in James Kilgore's Company of the 8th PA Reg't in 1776-77. James lived for a time in West Pennsborough Twp, Cumberland Co, and in Hempfield Twp in Westmoreland County, PA. [Info Sandy Zarel]

It is said that Susannah's father did not want her to marry Alexander Bovard so he put her in a private girl's boarding school and from there her and Alexander ran away and eloped. Her family totally disowned her. She is buried in an unmarked child's grave in Muncy and died of an abcessed liver.

In 1854 Mary's sister Hannah Bovard, purchased property in West Pittston. John and Mary lived with her, and their children were all born there. The house was called the "Bonstein Homestead". Hannah willed the property to the Bonstein's on her death in 1871, and the home was in the possession of the Bonstein family until 1952. A "Century House Plaque" is attached to the building.

John settled in West Pittston, PA where he owned and operated a tailor ship. Mary Jane Bovard, who later became his wife, was a seamstress in the shop. She was from Muncy, PA

William A. Bovard is shown as residing at 1313 Holmes Street in the 1900 Census. This coincides with the information Jack Bovard heard as to where W.R.Bovard was born in 1885. Sometime between 1900 & 1912 the Bovard family moved to 6001 E 12th St. Kansas City, MO. This information comes from a remark made by W. R. Bovard about riding the horse drawn trolley out 12th St to get home from work with his Father.

James served in the Continental Line during the Revolutionary War, having been a private in James Kilgore's Company of the 8th Pennsylvania Reg't., 1776-77. James lived for a time in West Pennsborough Twp., Cumberland Co, and in Hempfield Twp in Westmoreland Co, PA.
