JOHN RENFREW, Sr
John Renfrew was born April 4, 1753 at Scotland, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, tbe son of Samuel Renfrew, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He and his parents were active members of the Covenanters Church. November 4,1779 be married Sara Jane Rea, Daughter of Samuel Rhea. He was a private under Captain Conrad Snider in 1781 and bore to his grave marks of wounds received in the great struggle for liberty.He had one wound in his foot which caused a permanent lameness. He died October 14, 1844 at the age of 91 and is buried in the Reformed Presbyterian (Covenantors) Graveyard in Fayetteville, Pa. His name is on the 1840 list of pensioners.
