Joseph was born in Pennsylvania and traveled with his parents to Maryland and then to Franklin Co., VA. He probably married sometime around 1785. Once he settled in Franklin Co., he remained there for the rest of his life, dying in 1841. By all accounts, he was a successful farmer, owning between 1000 and 1500 acres of land.
Joseph and Susannah raised a family of eight children, and to date, we have identified nearly 15,000 descendants. The list below will lead you to links for the descendants of each of the eight children.
