Camille A. Girouard, 83, of Rockport, a retired vice president and
general manager of the Woodbridge Meat Co., a Boston wholesale
meat packer, died Saturday in the Denmar Nursing Home in Rockport
after a long illness.
Mr. Girouard also was a baritone singer who performed throughout
New England, Canada, Washington, D.C., and the southern states.
His recitals in Boston were given in Jordan Hall with his wife,
Alice M. Reilly, as accompanist.
Mr. Girouard appeared as a soloist with the Boston Pops, the
Handel and Hayden Society in Boston and many other organizations.
He was a guest artist with numerous operas in Boston, Manchester,
N.H., and Hartford.
He also sang solo in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church, Gloucester,
for many years.
The Girourads moved to Rockport in 1964. They had been active in
the Rockport Golf Club and had been residents of Denmar Nursing
Home since April 1982. He was born in Fitchburg.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sisters, Blanche G. Leonard and
Annette G. Smith, both of West Hartford, Conn., and Margaret
Girouard of Hartford, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces
and grandnephews.
A funeral Mass was said today in Our Lady of Good Voyage Church.
Burial followed in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater.
