Below are some of the publications frequently
cited by researchers. Descriptions, if known, are included as well as where
items can be located or purchased. Several are listed in the Family History
Library Catalog (LDS) and available on film. There are many more
publications listed in their catalog at familysearch.org. Use their Surname search feature at the catalog site
and enter surname variations.
Bell, Edwin W[allace] [b. 1908] and Lillan
[Lilian] M. B[eckwith] Maxwell [b. 1878]. ISRAEL KENNY, HIS
CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. (1944) 120p. May
be available at Quintin
Publications; also listed in the
Family History Library Catalog (LDS); entry states "Israel Kenny was born in Ireland, probably at Belfast. He married Susannah Hood in 1763 at Topsfield, Massachusetts.
They had fourteen children, 1764-1792. The family joined a group from Massachusetts that immigrated to New
Brunswick to settle on vacated French land and settled at
Maugerville, Sunbury County,
New Brunswick in 1767. Israel
Kenny was drowned in the St. John River near Oromocto, New Bruswick in 1791.
The Kenny surname spelling was later changed to Kenney and some in the family
now spell their surname Kinney. Descendants lived in New
Brunswick, Maine, Ontario,
British Columbia, Washington, California
and elsewhere." The catalog entry implies title might also be known as
ISRAEL KENNY AND HIS DESCENDANTS and indicates "Endorsed by the York-Sunbury
Historical Society, Inc." Kenney researcher Jeff Green reports that before
discovering his correct line he researched Israel's line. Green questions the Ireland connection, saying "It has been
stated in everything I've read for this Israel of New Brunswick, that he was a
Loyalist that fled to Canada
with a large contingent of other Loyalists." Green states there were few,
if any, known Irish loyal to the Crown of England during that period. See also
Green's The Four Israels of MA. Robertson's
1947 book (see below) says Israel
is reported to connect to the Henry Kinne of MA line but later defers to Bell's version. The Ireland locale is also inconsistent with the
description below under Hinckley stating Israel is a descendant of Henry
Kinne of MA.
Cutter, William Richard, [editor], GENEALOGICAL AND FAMILY HISTORY OF CENTRAL NEW YORK : A Record Of The Achievements Of Her People In The Making
Of A Commonwealth And The Building Of A Nation. Baltimore, Md.
(year? ca. 1900?) : Reprinted for Clearfield Co. by Genealogical Pub. Co., 1994. 3 v. (listed in Library of Congress Catalog).
KINNEY information in Vol. III, p. 1299 [about 2 p of information]. Brief
mention of Henry Kinne, [descendants?] Daniel, Jonathan, Theophilus; family of
Joseph Kinney 1755 CT - 1841 PA (his 4th generation descendant resided in NY).
This information is also on CD (information at Genealogy.com) titled: Early New York Families, 1600s-1900s, Family History of Central
NY, Vol. III, Central New York Family
Histories.
Doane, Alfred Alder [A. A.][1855-1918] THE KENNEY
GENEALOGY. "Reprinted from the Yarmouth
Herald, August 17, 1909. Everett,
Mass. "13p. May be available at Quintin Publications; also listed in the Family History Library Catalog
(LDS); entry states " Heman Kenney (d.1775) married Mercy Nickerson
and immigrated (with his brother, Nathan) from Massachusetts
to Barrington, Nova Scotia about 1761. Descendants lived in
Nova Scotia
and elsewhere." [A few WorldConnect trees link Heman to the Thomas
line. See also remarks under “Nathan Kinne of Nova Scotia,
Canada”
in the last Robertson entry below.] This line is associated with the line covered
in Robertson’s NEGHR item: Keeney, Keny
Family of Milton, Mass.,
and Nova Scotia,
Canada NEGHR 108:113 (1954)
Hinckley,
Mabel Gould Demers. KENNEY - KINNEY FAMILY. (1969) [about 20 pages]
Family History Library Catalog (LDS); entry
states: "John Kenney was born in England,
the son of Sir Thomas Keney of Kings Lynne, Norfolk, England.
He and his wife, Sarah Cheever (d. 1674), were married in England. They
were the parents of at least six children. He was and innkeeper at Boston and died in 1670.
Record lists children and some grandchildren for each generation but chiefly
follows line of descent to Israel
Kenney (1731-1791). He married Susannah Hood in 1763. They had fourteen
children. The family lived at Topsfield, Massachusetts, where their oldest children were born but
immigrated to Maugerville, New Brunswick, before the Revolutionary War.
A Loyalist, he served with British forces during the Revolution. Children and
grandchildren lived in New Bruswick and elsewhere." Note that
the above description of Israel's
ancestry is inconsistent with the Ireland
birth statement in item under Bell.

Masters & Stone] (1881) 97p. May be
available at Quintin
Publications. Descendants of Cyrus
Kinne (1746-1808) of Onondaga Co., NY, (Cyrus Kinne a descendant of Henry
"Kenney" of Salem,
MA). Also listed in the Family
History Library Catalog (LDS).
Kinne Historical and Genealogical Society. HENRY
KINNE (OF SALEM, MASS.) AND HIS DESCENDANTS IN CONNECTICUT. (1886)
12p. [Press of Rufus Adams, 167 Broadway, N.Y.]
May be available at Quintin
Publications. It is also known as the next item:
Kinne Historical and
Genealogical Society. KINNEY, KENNEY, KENE FAMILY. Descendants of Henry
Kene who lived in Salem (now Denvers), Massachusetts in 1651.
[no date]. Family History Library Catalog (LDS).
It appears under the title KINNEY,
KENNEY, KENE FAMILY on LDS film; probably because the cover/title page is
missing, but the remainder is identical to the above 1886 item. Written on the copy of the LDS film item is "Presented by E.
Mabel Kinney Amboy. Ill.
Feb. 17 '24" . The LDS filmed this item at the Iowa State Historical
Society, Polk County Des Moines, Iowa.
Kinney, Basil Elroy. KINNEY NATION.
Hallowell Press: Hallowell,
ME, 1963. 107 pages. Publisher:
Hallowell Press (January 1, 1963) ASIN: B0007EXZRE [Amazon.com ID number but
they do not have this book]. Need description.
Kinney, Basil Elroy. BY THE NAME OF KINNE:
Ancestors and descendants of Nathan Kinne of Preston, Ct.
& Norton [sic], N.S. 323 pages. Publisher: B.E. Kinney] (January 1,
1992). ASIN: B0006OUBXQ [Amazon.com ID number but they do not have this book].
It is likely Norton is a typo for Horton. Others cite this as: Kinney,
Basil E., Dawn L. (Hicks) Kinnie By The Name Of Kinne, Ancestors and Descendants
of Nathan Kinnie of Preston, Connecticut
and Horton, Nova Scotia. According to Kinney researcher Diane Murach, Horton [not Norton]
Township, Kings County, Nova Scotia, was first settled about 1760 by New
Englanders (most from Connecticut) after the Acadians were run out. The next
wave of settlers came with the Loyalists.
Note. I am told that Basil's genealogy is: Henry of
MA>Thomas & Knight>Thomas & Cox>Nathan (1727) &
Tubba>Thomas (1754) & Copp>Converse (1802) & Milburn.
Kinney, Edward Randolph. [Unpublished?]
correspondence ca. 1940, e.g. HENRY
KENEY (1623-1710). See remarks.

2000. ISBN 0-9701630-0-2. This book deals primarily with descendants of
William of Delaware Bay 1675 who is probably related to William Kinney of DE/MD
who d. 1770 (summaries of several other Kinney lines, including Henry’s, are
included).
Roberston, Florance Keeney [1884-1954]
She used the above spelling but is often
referred to as Florence
( Robertson, Florence Keeney - Florence Keeney Robertson - these spelling
variation entered here for "search engines") She descends from the Alexander of CT line,
not from Henry’s line. See Researchers.
Robertson, Florance Keeney. OUR

information on many of his descendants is included in this volume. Descendants

Additional remarks about Robertson:
The above listings for Robertson do not
include these "Other and Prospective Publications [by Robertson]"
mentioned in Robertson 1942 and/or Robertson 1947. The 1947 publication
indicates some of the below lines will be included as part of a future Vol.
II of the 1942 publication:
Our Family Origins *
Ancestry of Henry Kinne through 125 generations; mentioned in Robertson's 1947 publication (p. 1); it
is not clear if this is one of her works.
Henry Kinne of Salem, His Children &
His Grandchildren; mentioned in
Robertson's 1947 publication (p. 8); it is not clear if this is one of her
works.
Alexander Keny of Weathersfield, Connecticut
and Descendants *
Josiah Keene of Duxbury and Marshfield, Mass.
*
Israel Kenney of New Brunswick, Canada, if his genealogy is not published previously by E. W.
Bell of Vancouver, Canada. [In Additions and
Corrections (p. 181) of Robertson 1947, she indicates that after the book was
"set up" Bell published Israel Kenney of New Brunswick. See above Bell
entry]
William Keney of New London,
Conn. *
Nathan Kinne of Nova Scotia, Canada. * [WorldConnect entries list a Nathaniel, son of Heman
(listed above under Doane).
Most lines are: Arthur, John, Heman, Nathaniel but a few list Arthur as a son
of Thomas of England.]
John Keny of Milton, Mass. **
"Also many miscellaneous and unattached
families of the names." *
Lovelace-Loveless Genealogy. [There is a Robertson entry for Lovelace-Loveless
and Allied Families, 1952, in the Library of Congress and also in the
Family History Library Catalog.]
Early European and Royal Ancestries of Colonial Pioneers with some lines
to Adam. [Two Robertson items dealing with Lovelace and Loveless lines
from Adam are listed in the Family History Library Catalog.]
Robertson's 1947 publication refers to Ancestry
of Henry Kinne through 125 generations; it is not clear if this is one of
her works.
* It is not known
if Keayne Vol. II or any of the these projects were ever completed
and/or published.
** In 1954, Robertson did publish an article in NEGHR regarding John Keny, d. Milton,
MA, 1693, Keeney,
Keny Family of Milton, Mass.,
and Nova Scotia,
Canada NEGHR 108:113 (1954)
