William McKinney, c. 1770, Ireland, to U.S. 1820
William and Martha McKinney, of County Derry or Donegal , came to the U.S. about 1820. They were in Albany, N.Y., before settling in Allegheny County, PA., on Braddock's Field outside of Pittsburgh. Later they sold that land to Andrew Carnegie and his brother for construction of the Thompson Steel Works at Braddock, that later became Carnegie Steel and then U.S. Steel.
1) William McKinney - born abt 1770
He came to America about 1820 from County Derry, Ireland, with wife Martha and children.
2) John McKinney - born in County Donegal in 1805 and came to U.S. with parents about 1820. He married Rebecca McGlynn of Albany, N.Y., in 1837. John died Sept. 25, 1887, at the old homestead at Braddock
3) William McKinney - born Nov. 23, 1842. He died May 8, 1884. He married Josephine Clara West (born April 1839, died June 23, 1904). Shortly after William's death, Josephine moved her family to New Castle in Lawrence County, PA.
4) William McKinney - born Sept. 1870. He married Emma Dout (born Nov. 25, 1882, in New Castle, PA). William and Emma moved their family from Lawrence County to Erie County, PA in the early 1900s.
5) William (Wilmer) A. McKinney born Feb. 22, 1910. He married Mary Kathryn Bosner in 1944 at Camp Campbell, KY. He was named WILMER but changed his name to William after the death of his brother William.
