Note:  This is a classic Y-DNA success story. 
When this participant first tested, he only had information up to his grandfather. At that time, he had no Y-DNA matches with his surname variation.  A few years later, thanks to a Y-DNA match and the assistance of researcher Carol Kenney Lovitt, he extended his line to JBK.

1) James Barnett Kenney born 1720 Northern Ireland, died 1782-1786 Union Town, Fayette Co. Pennsylvania.  He married (1) Miss Kramer and married (2) Mary, no last name known. James Barnett Kenney and Miss Kramer had:

2) James Kenney born 29 Nov. 1752 Ft. Defiance, Augusta Co. Virginia. James died 13 March 1814, Near Paris, Bourbon Co. Kentucky.  He married Mary Frame b: 14 May 1747 in Augusta Co. Virginia and d: 22 Sept. 1796 near Paris, Bourbon Co. Kentucky. Mary was the daughter of John and Margaret Hogshead Frame. They are both buried in the Kenney Grave Yard on Stonerside Farm, Bourbon Co. Kentucky. James married (2) Margaret Johnson, b: 11 Jan. 1777 Near Alexander Virginia, d: 26 May 1829 near Paris, Bourbon Co. Kentucky. Margaret is also buried in the Kenney Grave Yard on Stonerside Farm near Paris, Bourbon Co. Kentucky. Margaret was the daughter of Capt. Andrew Johnson and Mary Gregg.  James Kenney and first wife Mary Frame had:

3) John C. Kenney b: 8 July 1775 in Augusta Co. Virginia and died 2 Feb. 1847 in Ralls Co. Missouri. John C. married Mary Johnson, 8 Aug 1797 in Bourbon Co. Kentucky. Mary was b: abt. 1779 near Alexander, Virginia and d: 1822 Ralls Co. Missouri. Daughter of Capt. Andrew Johnson and Mary Gregg.

4) Isaac Kenney b: 5 Sept. 1807 in Bourbon Co. Kentucky, d: 16 June 1896, (copy of Isaac's Bible). Married Nancy Parish, b: 1807 Bourbon Co. Kentucky, d: 24 Nov. 1840 Bourbon Co. Kentucky, (copy of Isaac's Bible). Nancy was the daughter of Nathaniel Paris and Polly Groom.

5) Willis Kenney, b: 6 Jan. 1831 Bourbon Co. Kentucky, d: 10 Nov. 1896, (copy of Isaac's Bible). Married Sarah "Sally" Simpson, b: 1833 Grant Co. Kentucky, d: Nov. 1884 Nicholas.  Sarah was the daughter of Edmond Simpson and Sarah "Sally" Marksberry.

6) George Washington Kenney, b:  June 1864 Nicholas Co. Kentucky, died unknown as yet.  Married Ida Mae Barker, b: Feb. 1868 Kenton Co. Kentucky d: 20 March 1952 Indianapolis, Marion Co. Indiana. Ida was the daughter of Elisha Barker and Eliza Kenney/Kinney.

7) Everett Clinton Kenney, aka James B. Kenney, b: 25 Nov. 1900, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co. Ohio, d: 3 Jan. 1967 Tampa, Hillsborough Co. Florida. Married Carmen Teller, b: 1 Aug 1910 Sioux City, Iowa, d:25 April 1981 San Francisco, San Francisco Co. California.

The participant, known by the surname ANDERSON, states that after the death of his parents, he located his birth record and an earlier marriage record for his mother and learned that his real name was Kenney.
