The participant in interested in knowing if there is a connection between the surname Kinney and Kinniburgh. He has traced his family tree back as far as records go to Kirkintilloch in Glasgow.
He writes that:
"The cemetery in Kirkintilloch (just north of Glasgow) contained many Kinniburghs over several hundred years but has sadly been redeveloped in the name of progress!
"So far I have been able to trace my Kinniburgh ancestry back directly to early 1700s with certainty and perhaps earlier (late 1500s with a little imagination!!) but not sure. They all seem to be in the general area (20 mile radius) of what is now Glasgow on west coast of Scotland but before that the trail is cold so far.
I have noticed that there are a number of Kinniburghs in the USA but have never attempted to get in touch to explore possible links - perhaps this project will help me to trace links there at some time in the future."
