Researcher Aralt Mac Giolla Chainnigh (Harold Kenny) of Canada obtained the DNA sample from participant #8953. The researcher reports that the participant "descends from a large current group of Kennys in the Ottawa area."   The researcher was interested in the sample because the participant said "the original family name was Kilkenny."   Later the researcher learned of the Ottawa Kenny connection and states: "The other branches of the [Ottawa] family don't have this story, and they seem to suggest that the family originated in Country Kilkenny."
