He arrived in the Mirimichi region of New Brunswick sometime in the 1820-1827 time frame. He married Marie Anne Drysdale, a New Brunswick local of British ancestry.  They had 5 known children in the area of Pokemouche, Gloucester County, New Brunswick, Canada (first son, b.1830, was William Patrick Kenny).
