~LENHART~
For my immediate family - descendants of Walter Beck Lenhart or his siblings.

If you are not a descendant of Walter Beck Lenhart, or his siblings, you will prefer this link - Lenhart

JOHAN PETER LENHART (JPL), 1708-1774, our immigrant ancestor, was born in Germany and arrived in Philadelphia in 1748. This link provides information about JPL, his known children, and includes links to his ancestry, German homeland, will, gravestone photo, etc. JPL and wife are buried in Dover Twp, York Co., PA. Several descendants of JPL have Revolutionary war connections but there is no evidence of any for our direct line. (My website has a lot of information about JPL because I work with many other JPL descendant/researchers.)

WILLIAM (WILHLEM) LENHART, 1745-1819, a son of JPL, was born in Germany and is buried in Dover Twp., York Co., PA. He (with wife, Anna Maria Beitzel) is listed under the children in the above JPL link.

GEORGE LENHART, (SR.) * 1784-1857, a son of Wilhelm, is also buried in Dover Twp., York Co., PA. His first wife, Margaret/Rebecca DERR, was the mother of all his children.

GEORGE LENHART, (JR.)*, ca. 1815-1884, a son of George (Sr.), lived and died in Dover Twp., York Co., PA (his grave has not been found). He married Elizabeth Gerber; their four children appear in Dover Twp., York Co., PA, baptism records. The genealogy of Elizabeth GERBER and her associated Madori-Gerber line has been traced to 1565. Our first Gerbers arrived in American in 1805. Yes, our Gerber line is related to the Gerber baby food family (distant cousins), the link is a couple of generations before the company was founded. (There are several unconnected Gerber lines in America, many earlier than our line.)

CHRISTIAN LENHART, son of George and Elizabeth, settled in Rapid City, SD. He and Caroline (Beck?) were the parents of three children, Charles Francis Lenhart and twins Warren Gerber Lenhart (married Amy Flynn) and WALTER BECK LENHART (WBL - married Ann Elizabeth HOLEMAN). Christian's wife, Caroline, had three daughters from an earlier marriage to Isaac Rich: Galena, m. Whitson, Marguerite, and Lottie; these daughters of Caroline were sometimes referred to as Lenhart. We have no evidence of the maiden name of Christian's wife Caroline "Carrie." According to family tradition her surname was Beck but no documentation has yet been found. When she married Christian she was the widow of Isaac Rich. She was born in Pennsylvania; census records indicate her parents were born in Prussia.

This is a five generation chart; some of the surnames continue on to earlier generations.
