JOHNSON^1,5,11,13,14 was born on Sep 16, 1836 in Daviess Co., Indiana.¹⁵ He died on Dec 27, 1909 in Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas.¹⁶ He was buried on Dec 30, 1909 in Atlanta Cemetery, Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas.¹⁷ His Ancestral File Number is 1JP1-DBK. There are two Wiliam Johnsons that have caused confusion. William E. and William L. Both were born in Daviess Co., IN, both migrated down to Omnia Twp, Cowley Co. KS, and both died and are buried in Atlanta Cemetery. It took time to sort out who was who, but the census records helped. William L. is shown with Rachel in the 1860, while William E. is still with his father's family (Hiram). Jaylene Inklaar has his middle name as Linsey.

There is a William Johnson, Pvt, from Daviess Co., mustered into Co G, 42nd Indiana on Oct 10, 1861. Says he was "transferred to V.R.C." (Veterans Reserve Corps). Could have been William L. or William E.

William L. JOHNSON and Rachael GREGORY were married on Sep 15, 1859 in Washington, Daviess Co., Indiana.¹⁵ Rachael GREGORY^{11,13,14,15,18,19} (daughter of John M. GREGORY and Nancy M. STAFFORD) was born on Dec 25, 1838 in Daviess Co., Indiana. Johnson family bible records this as "Davis Co., Indiana" She died on Jan 24, 1928 in Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas.^6,15,16,20 Michael Wayne Burger, Rachel's obituary in the Winfield paper, and the Cowley County Cemetery records show 24 Jan 1928. The Johnson family Bible shows 1 January 1928 She was buried on Jan 27, 1928 in Atlanta Cemetery, Winfield, Cowley Co., Kansas.^17,20 Married William Johnson in 1859 but lived with her father's family through at least June of 1860, with her daughter Lizzie (1860 census). Came to KS in 1879 in the wagon train from Indiana. She lived with her daughter Lizzie and then with her daughter Nan and died at Nan's house. Jaylene's research has her dying on 1 Jan, 1928, but her obit says Jan 24. William L. JOHNSON and Rachael GREGORY had the following children:

His funeral was held in Rock, Cowley Co., Kansas on on Jun 30, 192921 Funeral was held at the home of Idona Hannah on Sunday 30 Jun, 1929 at 2:30pm Born Albert Jeremiah, but went by Jerry all his life. His obituary even lists him as Jerry Albert Johnson. Got married (wife unknown) and then divorced, after which he returned to live with his father (1900 census).

Oscar L. moved first to Denver Co, and then to Los Angeles, California Rachel's obituary (1928) mentions Oscar .L. Johnson from Denver surviving and attending. He is also mentioned in his sister, Elizabeth's obituary (1940) as residing in Los Angeles.
