8. Jacob (Jake) WINKELMAN^3,4,5,7 was born on Feb 1, 1848 in Pennsylvania.^7,22 He died on Mar 25, 1910 in Leavenworth Co., Kansas.⁷ He was buried on Mar 27, 1910 in Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, Leavenworth Co., Kansas.²⁶ Mt. Sidney Cemetery is located at Linwood, LV Co., KS, which is just across the Kansas River from DeSoto, JO Co., KS. My map says the location of Mt. Sidney Cemetery is on Golden Road between 188th and 189th Streets.

Some question on birth year. LS records say 1847. The 1870 census lists him as 21 yr old, and the 1880 as 31, so that indicates a birth in 1849, if the Feb 1 is correct. The 1880 census lists him as a farmer. Looks like Frederick was living with him in his later years.

It is very likely that Jake and Eliza raised Samuel after Orie died.

Jacob (Jake) WINKELMAN and Eliza E. WOOLLEY were married on Dec 21, 1875 in Douglas, Co., Kansas.²⁷ Eliza E. WOOLLEY^3,28,29 (daughter of William P. WOOLLEY and Elizabeth WOOLLEY) was born on Dec 25, 1851 in Illinois. Birthdate inferred from Tombstone. 1860 census says born in IL, 1880 says OH, but since her older sister and younger sister's were both born in IL and all census agree for them, it's probably IL. She died on Nov 9, 1927 in Leavenworth Co., Kansas. She was buried on Nov 12, 1927 in Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Linwood, Leavenworth Co., Kansas.³⁰ Jacob (Jake) WINKELMAN and Eliza E. WOOLLEY had the following children:

Lucy V. WINKELMAN^3,29 was born in 1869 in Kansas. Lucy and her mother appear in Elizabeth Woolley's household in the 1870 census, not with Jake Winkelman. I may be that Jake is not her father since they did not marry for another 5 years.
