The tombstone was probably erected by Eliza Winkelman (Jacob's wife) and Emma
Wells (William's wife), her two sisters. Family lore says that Orie may have
been part Cherokee. Her sister Emma married William Wells and her other sister,
Eliza, married Ben's uncle Jacob. Emma and Will raised Samuel and his brother
Bertie (who took the name Wells). Jacob and Eliza raised Sam (and may have adopted
him, too, but there'd be no name change). She also had a brother Angus Wolley
