Hi, Keith! I answered your email about a week ago and have finally had some
time to look for your Wm. Henderson and Mary Ann Alexander. Mary Ann was my

- Thomas Franklin Johnson
Sunday at 2:30pm funeral services were held from the Hackney Baptist church
for Thomas Franklin Johnson, who died Friday evening after an illness of only
a few hours. The church was crowded and many friends stood outside to pay a
last tribute to Mr. Johnson, who was a pioneer resident of Cowley county.
Rev. J. E. Maguire was in charge of the services. The Floral quartet composes
of John Dicken, Leroy Sturm, Jake Fife, and W.O. Bender, accompanied by Miss
Ruth Dicken at the piano, sang Abide with Me and Life Is a
Mountain Railway. Mrs. Marshall Drew of Arkansas City sang a solo, Does
Jesus Care.
Pallbearers were G.A. Branch, G.C. Whitson, H.A. Beaver and William E. Reynolds.
Interment (sic) was in the Mount Vernon Cemetery.
The following tribute was read during the services by Reverend Mr. Maguire:
Mr. Johnson joined the Hackney Baptist church on February 8, 1925, and
at his death was a member of eight years standing. He was an upstanding Christian
man in his home and in the community. He was a devoted husband and idolized
his children and the little granddaughter. Mr. Johnson was one of the best of
neighbors and a friend to everyone, always ready to do his share in all community
work.
He will be sadly missed in his home and by all who knew him - no one can
ever take his place. Death comes to us all sooner or later. That is the inevitable
end of many, but could we all be as well prepared for death as Mr. Johnson it
would have no terror for us.
God holds the key to man's destiny and we know not the time nor place
of our going, and so we bow our heads and bend our wills to God's wishes and
say 'Thy will by done'..
