DR. BENJAMIN WILSON


Was born in Sciota county, Ohio, May 29th, 1827. His father, James Wilson, was born in Maryland, November 20th, 1779. He married Miss Phebe Fields, who was a native of Virginia, and who was born on the 29th of February, 1784. At an early day they moved to Ohio, settling in the county above named. They had a family of twelve children, of whom the subject of this sketch is the eleventh. Mrs. Wilson died at her residence on the 8th of September, 1838. He survived her until March 7th, 1844.

The Doctor received his early education in Ohio. At the age of twenty-one he married Miss Elizabeth, daughter of James Jackson, formerly of Virginia. In April, 1853, he moved to Chambersburg, Illinois, and immediately after commenced the study of medicine with Dr. E. R. Stoner. He graduated at Rush Medical College in the spring of 1857, since which time he has been practicing in Chambersburg and vicinity. He has a family of eight children, six of whom are yet living. Politically, he is a strong supporter of the republican party.
