STARK

Alexander Stark (c1830-1893), the son of Charles Stark and Mary Glasscock, was born in London, England. He came out to Australia with his brother James on the ship "Hurricane", arriving in Melbourne in August 1854. He married Elizabeth Vippond in Bendigo in 1857 and James married Hannah Spice in 1869. Alexander was a miner in the Bendigo and Mount Alexander goldfields.

Alexander and Elizabeth had the following children:

• Herbert, Florence, Annie, Willie, Alexander, Ellen and Henry who all passed away before Alexander's death at the age of 62 in 1893,
• Emily Maria Matilda who was born in Taradale in 1869 and married Philip Augustus Williams in 1888,
• Minnie Alice who was born in Taradale in 1872 and died at the age of 25 in 1897.
• Harry Albert (1877-1918) who was born in Taradale and married Ethel Rebecca Greene in 1907.

Alexander (Senior) and Minnie are buried in unmarked graves in Fryerstown Cemetery.

Emily married Patrick Kennedy in 1900 after the death of Philip Williams. Their children included:

• Catherine May Kennedy (1901- )
• Maizie Elizabeth Kennedy (1902- )
• Florence Isabella Kennedy (1904- )
• Patrick Alfred Kennedy (1906- )
• Ernest John Kennedy (1909-1943)
• Eileen Ada Kennedy (1910- )
