This is the first part of my information on the WINTERBOTTOM family of Glossop. My line descends from John WINTERBOTTOM of Blackshaw, a farmstead just above the then centre of Glossop; he was born early in 1717 and I have just found his christening. He married at the parish church in Glossop on the 10th March 1742, his wife, Rachel GARLICK, has one of the old Glossop surnames.
John and Rachel had 10 children, a number of whom pre-deceased them, with John living to the age of 90 and Rachel to 92!
There are other WINTERBOTTOM families which I have followed from this time but have not yet managed to get back further to see if they are all linked.
A number of people have asked for information on these families, so I have produced a list of all my Winterbottom here. This information is being added to regularly on my computer but will not necessarily be updated on this page.
I have more information on these people please contact me if you are interested.
The wills I have for the WINTERBOTTOMS are summarised on the GENUKI Derbyshire page, you will need to use a back button on your browser to return to my site.
If you want more detail please ask.
