Margaret Catherine CHAPMAN

Margaret Chapman Smith, 95, died October 27, 2004 at Hospice House of Savannah. The Long County, Georgia native lived in Savannah for more than 70 years. She worked for many years with her husband, W. Hughes Smith, Sr., in the family business, Smith Service Oil Company. She was a faithful member of Bull Street Baptist Church for more than 61 years and she was active in the Pilot Sunday School Class. She was a longtime member of the Exchangette Club of Savannah. Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, W. Hughes "Sonny" and Jane S. Smith, Jr. of Savannah; a daughter and son-in-law, Sybil S. and Charles H. Moore of Savannah; five grandchildren, their spouses and 13 great-grandchildren, W. Hughes "Trey" and Barbara Smith, Wills and Stanford Smith; Karen and Rickey Daring, Ashleigh, Catherine and Rickey Daring, Jr.; Charles H. "Chuck" and Kathy Moore, Charles, Matthew and Caroline Moore; Scott E. and Carla Moore, Wynn and Clay Moore; Craig S. an d Bridget Moore, Olivia, Stephen and Philip Moore , all of Savannah; three sisters-in-law, Wilma (Mrs. Fred) Chapman and Cordie Chapman of Jacksonville, NC, and Wilma Chapman of Ludowici; and one niece, Marie P. Jones McBride of Louisville, Georgia. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bull Street Baptist Church. Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park. Wilber Chapman Wilber Fredrick Chapman, 88, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at Britthaven of Onslow Nursing Home in Jacksonville. Mr. Chapman was born July 7, 1916, in Ludowici, Ga., to the late William F. and Lelia Long Chapman, and serving in the United States Marine Corps, retiring as a master sergeant May 1, 1967. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville with Chaplain Bob Lancia and the Rev. Alice Quarles officiating. Interment will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville with military honors. Surviving are his wife, Wilma Hallman Chapman of the home; daughter, Vickie Collins Rivenbark and her husband, Dennis, of Jacksonville; two sons, Randy Chapman and his wife, Cheryl, of Winchester, Ky., and Wilber Fredrick Chapman Jr. of Texarkana, Texas; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Margaret Smith of Savannah, Ga. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Wilma Hallman Chapman, 81, of Jacksonville died on Jan. 3, 2005, at Craven Regional Medical Center in New Bern. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alice Quarles officiating. Burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilber F. Chapman. She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Collins Rivenbark of Jacksonville; a son, Randy Chapman of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Kathryn Collins Swain and Brittany Chapman; two sisters, Nina McLeod of Glennville, Ga., and Thelma Stockton of Livingston, Tenn.; and a brother, Norman Hallman of Glennville, Ga. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Donations in memory of Mrs. Chapman may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 301 Marine Boulevard, Jacksonville, N.C. 28540.
