Arthur Davis moved soon after marriage to South Carolina where he lived in old Cheraw Districe a few years in 1780's, where he served in the South Carolina Militia in the Revolutionery War. He was paid in 1785 for 158 days service. (See Book "R", pg. 71 stub indents, SC Rev. War Records, by Sally.) His Mary drew land in the Cherokee Land Lottery in Georgia as the widow of a Revolutionery Soldier, residing at the time in Montgomery Co GA. (See pg. 377, Knights Georgia Roster of the Revolution.) About 1788, Arthur Davis and family moved back to Anson Co., NC and lived there untill about 1798, when they moved to Washington Co GA. (The soldiers of the Revolution were granted land in Washington Co. GA for their services in the Revolution.) Anson Co. deed records show he was a resident there in 1788 and until 1798; also shows he was a resident there in 1788 until 1793; also shows deed from him of Georgia, to Drury Allen of Anson Co., Oct. 6, 1798, for fifty acres in Anson Co. (Deed book F, pg. 41) and deed to same purchaser dated Jan. 27, 1801, for 150 acres (Deed book H2, pg. 345) both of these last two deeds made while living in Washington Co. By 1805, Arthur Davis had moved to Montgomery Co. where he lived until lhis death about 1830.
Arthur and Lewis Davis have many descendants living in Washington, Montgomery, Coffee and Appling Counties today.

Arthur and Lewis Davis subsequently became residents of Washington Co., Georgia, in the latter 1790's, when the government was giving land grants to Rev. soldiers for their services in the Revolution. Arthur married Mary Vick, also of Anson County.

James Davis was born in 1787 in Cheraw District, South Carolina, a son of Arthur Davis, RS. His parents returned in his childhood to Anson County, N. C. and he grew up there and in Washington
Co. (now Montgomery Co., GA). He was married twice, his first wife was Mary, a daughter of Moses Burgess of McIntosh Co., and by her five children were born. She died about 1820. His second
wife, Elizabeth, born in S. Carolina, maiden name is unknown. The 1830 and 1840 census indicate
that she was born 1800 or after. The 1850 census says 1802, and the 1860 census says 1800.
But, her tombstone in Ramah Church Cemetery in Pierce Co. says she was born 1794, which was probably incorrect. By her seven children were born.James Davis was a private in the Georgia Militia in the War of 1812. He enlisted at Darien in 1813 in Capt. Samuel Owens Co. of McIntosh Co. Militia, and served six months, all as shown by his county
land application made in Ware Co., now Pierce Co., Sept. 1, 1855. In 1830, 1840, 1850 censuses he
was living in the 584th district of Ware Co., (which district was cut into Pierce Co. in 1858). He died
there about 1857 and is believed to be buried at Ramah Church Cemetery by his last wife, who died
Aug. 12, 1888. Her grave is marked, but his is not.
