If correct, she would have been 15 years of age when she married Charles Harper in 1877 and 17 years of age when Sarah was born. Other records indicate her birth year as 1869. If this is correct, then whe would have been 8 years of age when she married Charles and 10 years old when she gave birth to Sarah. If her birth year is 1862, then her mother would have been Savilla Adeline Strickland, first wife of Joseph Brooker, Jr. Savilla died about 1860-1864. Joseph married Jane Manning July 3, 1865. the 1870 census for Wayne Co., GA gives Georgia Ann Brooker's birth year as 1869 and shows her mother as Jane Manning, second wife of Joseph. In the 1870 census she is listed as Annie.

Mal J. Harper son of Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Harper of Gardi, who recently enlisted in the Army Air Corps and is now stationed at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, has been promoted to the rank of aviation cadet and is waiting to be transferred to a cadet replacement training center where he will receive his basic training. Harper graduated from Wayne County High School in 1940 and was employed by Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Atlanta before his enlistment. He will receive his wings and commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in seven months and then he will be assigned to an active squadron.

Another Promotion - Mal J. Harper, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Mal J. Harper, Sr., of Jesup, Georgia, has been promoted to the rank of Corporal in the Army Air Forces, and is stationed at Hill Field, Ogden, Utah. He is a graduate of the Jesup High School and the University of Georgia. Corporal Harper entered the service in March of this year and prior to enlistment was employed in the Bookkeeping Dept. of Sears Roebuck & Co., at Atlanta, Georgia. He received his basic training at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.

Again Promoted - Mal J. Harper, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Mal J. Harper, Sr. of Jesup, Georgia, was promoted to the grade of Staff Sergeant from Corporal, on August 1, 1942. It was his second promotion within a months� time. Sergeant Harper has made a great showing for himself during the few months he has been in the Army. He now has the honor of being the youngest Staff Sergeant on his field. Sergeant Harper enlisted in the Army Air Forces on March 9, 1942. He received his basic training at Jefferson, Barracks, Missouri, and was transferred to his present station Hill Field, Ogden, Utah, in May of this year.
