Examining census records from 1790 to 1840, the following is likely:
1. Benjamin, James (b. 1771), and Samuel are very likely brothers.
2. James, Benjamin, and Walter are possible candidates for the father of Benjamin and James. I will use James? as the father for now.
Other possible brothers and parents are identified below.Good site for early Warren's in York County, Maine.
History of James Warren in Kittery, Maine"WARREN Patriarch
James Warren was born in Berwick, Scotland in 1620, and banished by Oliver Cromwell after a Battle at Dunbar, Scotland in 1650, he was a Cavalier (Knight), a royalist and he was picked by the King's Surveyor General of Primeval Forests to go out through that territory and see that the King's mark was put on every white pine tree suitable for ships mast, of the diameter of twenty-four inches at a point twelve inches from the ground. Mark of a broad ax in the design of an arrow, made by three cuts through the bark like the track of a crow. It is said that as late as the 1850s some of these trees and their marks were still to be seen, the King didnt get them all! When he finished the job, he was given a grant of the whole tract of land from White's Marsh to Warren's Brook, and from the Newichewannock River to Warren's Pond. This area was first settled by James Warren and was later to be called "Dunnybrook".Census info

On 23 Oct 1603 Richard Fryeth, alias Norman, brought suit against Agnes Fryeth, alias Norman, widow of John Fryeth alias Norman, of Ipswich, and her daughter Elizabeth, wife of Edmund Greenleaf, about land in the parish of St. Mary at the Tower, Ipswich. The evidence shows that the plaintiff, Richard Fryeth, was son and heir of John Fryeth, that Elizabeth Greenleaf was the plaintiff's half sister, and that Agnes Fryeth, was his stepmother and evidently much younger than her husband, whom she described ashaving been old and decrepit in 1576, when the land in dispute was purchased,so that she was obliged to support the family until he died in Sep1590. Richard claimed the land as his father's son and heir, but his stepmother claimed that the land was bought with money that she herself had earned.
