Obituary
Betty A. Meyer, 83, Rossville, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at a Topeka hospital. Betty was born September 14, 1923 in Cottonwood Falls, the daughter of Jackson Leroy and Gertrude E. (Selves) Archer. Her family farmed in the Flint Hills and she attended Cottonwood Falls schools. Betty married Gerald F. Meyer on January 6, 1945 in Newton. They lived in Sunflower where she worked for the Sunflower Ammunition Plant before moving to Topeka in 1948. She worked for American Bindery for 21 years. She was an avid horsewoman and enjoyed the outdoors. Survivors include her husband of 61 years; daughter, Gerrie Meyer, Olathe; sons, Steve Meyer and Gary Meyer; grandson, Cody Meyer, all of Topeka; brothers, John Archer, Boise, ID, LeRoy Archer, Hope; and a sister, Patsy Johnson, Matfield Green. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Croy Funeral Home in Cottonwood Falls. Betty will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Heart of America Chapter, 515 S. Kansas Avenue, Suite B-2, Topeka, Kansas 66603.
