John Blackston Ellis served in Company B, 1st Florida Reserves during the Civil War. He was killed at the Battle of Natural Bridge, near Tallahassee, FL on 6 Mar 1865. According to records found in the Florida Archieves, he was buried in the Old City Cemetery in Tallahassee with other Confederate soldiers. John B. Ellis also served in D. N. Cone's Company during the Okefinokee Campaign of the Seminole Indian Wars.
