Abigail JENKINS

Simon Tettee married Abigail Casell on 22-Jun-1778 in Wrentham. Earlier, Joseph Caswell married Abigail Jenkins on 5-May-1774.

Joseph Pettee (1781-1838), the oldest son of Simon and Abigail, named his oldest son, William Jenkins Pettee b. 21-Sep-1819. This suggests that "Jenkins" is a family name, and could be in fact the maiden name of William Jenkins Pettee's mother, Abigail. Since some genealogies have Abigail Caswell as the wife of Simon, while others have Abigail Jenkins, one reconciliation is that Abigail Jenkins was first married to Joseph Caswell, (with whom she had a daughter Abigail Caswell b. 29 Aug 1774), and later married Simon Pettee. Abigail Caswell (b. 29_Aug-1774) is stated to have as her brother, Otis Pettee, in Kenneth W. Newcomb's The Makers of the Mold
