The author wishes to thank the many friends who have assisted in the preparation of this work. An effort has been made to make it as accurate as possible. Facts and dates obtained from different sources sometimes vary and no doubt mistakes have been made.

It is apparent that no effort has been made to extend all the family lines to all present day generations. This is due to the time and work that this would require.

Many sources of information have been used in the preparation of this work via: Church records, grave stones, histories, historical societies archives, libraries, newspapers, court records, word of mouth, personal knowledge, etc, and although far from complete, it is offered with the hope that this will be a help to anyone who is interested in the Chapman genealogy.

William Leonard ROWE Sr.

I believe I found how my grandfather, Len Rowe of McIntosh County, met my grandmother, Olive Gordon of Liberty County.  Len is listed on page 18A of the McIntosh County census as the oldest son in the family of Leonard and Mary E. Rowe.  His age is 18, he is single and his occupation is as Engineer Rail Road.

Olive is listed on page 2A of the Liberty County census with family #6 headed by Lula Gordon.  Olive was the oldest daughter at 17, single and her occupation was "Dressmaker At Home".  Her uncle Thomas J. Chapman was three doors away at family #3.  At the time of the census, the Chapman family had a boarder, one Leonard W. Rowe, age 18, single, occupation "Engineer Locomotive".

Looks like Len stayed at home on one end of his run and with the Chapmans at the other end where he had some spare time.
