William Alexander and Annette Caison Delk were married May 29, 1892. They lived most of their married life in Wayne co. Georgia, except a brief period in the early 1920's when they were in Florida. Alexander William Delk He was the oldest child of my grandparents. He was born near Odum, Georgia. In early 1918 he went into the United Staes Army and served in France for two months prior to the end of World War I. He was among the service men who were victims of German poison gas. He came back from the war very ill. He met my mother, Carrie Lee Hitt, at a sanitorium near Nashville, Tennessee. They married July 28, 1921. He died from his war injuries on May 2, 1922, some two and one-half months prior to my birth. After my father's death my mother later remarried and had four more children.
