I am descended from their first born son, Arthur Burney, born abt 1786 in N.C., Married Mary Jane Pendarvis in South Carolina or Georgia. Arthur died 10 Dec 1856 in Duval Co., Florida.

Married to an E __(name unknown) raised family until 1860 in MS. After that, can't locate them. 2 sons came to Falls Co., Tx. after 1870 raised family and died here.

13 Jun 1783In the name of God Amen. I, William Burney of the County aforesaid, being in perfect health of body and right memory but calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die, do therefore settle my business after the manner hereafter named. First of all I recommend my soul to God that gave it and my body to be buried at the discretion of my friends or Executors hereafter named and as to my worldly goods which it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and dispose of in the manner and form following - viz:
After all my just debts be paid and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Elizabeth, the manner (Manor) plantation whereon I now live and my black horse with a saddle and bridle.
I give and bequeath to my oldest son, James, one hundred acres of land joining Daniel Shipman lands, near the mouth of the Western Prong, to him, his heirs and assigns forever.
I give and bequeath to my son, William, his heirs and assigns forever, three hundred and twenty acres of land on the west side of Waccamaw Lake and Bogue Swamp.
I give and bequeath to my son, Arthur, his heirs and assigns forever, the one-half of the tract of land whereon my father now lies at the upper end be it more or less.
I give and bequeath to my son, Samuel, his heirs and assigns forever, a tract of fifty acres of land on the west side of the White Oak Pocosin whereon Jeremiah Bigford now lives.
I further give and bequeath to my son, James, fifty acres of land, to him and his heirs forever on the east side of Richland Branch.
I give and bequeath to each of my oldest sons, viz, James, William, and Arthur, one feather bed apiece and furniture.
I likewise give and bequeath after my Father's decease to my above said three oldest sons, his time divided about among them, one negro man named Prince, at this time a boy, and after my decease and my father's for a negro man named Sam to be at his own disposal and not be made a slave, and such chattels as belong to me at this not not to be divided to oldest sons and all the rest of my cattle to be equally divided among all my children. I give and bequeath to Mary Taylor one mare, a dark bay with a star in her forehead and a snip on her nose named stockings, and all the rest of my horses and mares I desire they may be equally divided amongst all my children and all the rest of my estate to be equally divided amongst my wife and children.
