Grave of Seal McDougle, North Harris County, Texas

A local MUD has cleared the brush around an old stone that has been a few yards off of a busy intersection near us for a very long time. They have cleared it out and put a small fence around it, so it is now visible from the street. There is a LOT of homebuilding and other construction going on right around it, but there is supposed to be a small park built around the marker.

I have started researching to find descendants of this person and what I have found out so far is that Seal McDougle was living on that land in 1900 with his wife Emily and a 16 year old servant. Seal was born in North Carolina and his wife in Virginia and had been married in 1873. They had no children living with or near them in 1900. They were African-American and farmed their land. Supposedly, there was a church and cemetery on this land. If so, his is the only marker left. I will keep researching this. If anyone is related or knows anything about this ancestor, please e-mail me.
