Mr. Mace Overshown, age 91, of Augusta, passed away May 8, in Texas City. Mr. Overshown was born Dec. 5, 1908, in Augusta.

Mr. Overshown attended public school in Augusta. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Franklin Top Baptist Church and served as deacon. He later joined Greater New Hope Baptist Church and served as deacon there also. He later reunited with Franklin Top where he remained a member until his health failed.

Survivors include son Bernie Overshown of Texas City, Lee Overshown of Houston; daughters Shirley Overshown of Texas City, Joyce Woodson and Ola Overshown of Alvin; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, brothers Lloyd and James Overshown of Houston and Byron Overshown of Crockett; sisters Odessa Craig, Argentina Jasper and Novell Tucker, all of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Overshown was preceded in death by his parents the Rev. and Mrs. John Webb Overshown.

Funeral services for Mr. Overshown were held May 15 at 1 p.m. at Berington Baptist Church in Augusta with the Rev. Joe L. Ards, pastor and the Rev. Lynn Bolton, officiant.

Final resting place Post Oak Cemetery, Augusta.

Pall bearers were nephews and friends.

Honorary pall bearers were grandson.
